LG Electronics India Limited (LGEIL) has launched the latest smartphone from the K series. LG K10 2017 dubbed as ‘Dhaakad’ smartphone with a special ‘panic button’ mandated as per the Government of India guidelines. Apart from its safety & design features, the most touted feature of the smartphone is the built in ‘panic button’. Its official price on LG India Website is Rs 15,000. While other reports have claim that the smartphone will go on sale for Rs 13,990.
LG K10 launches with panic button ‘112’
LG became the first company in the India to launch the smartphone with panic button implementation. As per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recommendation to have a single number ‘112’ for all emergency calls in the mobile phones.
The new smartphone depicts the commitment and responsibility of LG to support and strengthen initiatives for women’s safety in India.
Once the panic button pressed, it redirects the calls to ‘112’ for all emergency calls.
Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister of Communications and IT, Government of India and Mr Pankaj Mahindroo, Founder and National President, of Indian Cellular Association, launched the smartphone event.
Ravi Shankar Prasad said “We are consistently working on initiatives to create a safe and conducive environment for citizens of the country through technological excellence. However, the panic button, 112, is a great initiative. Hence, we must applaud efforts of LG Electronics who is developing technology for the betterment of the society.”
Features of LG K10
LG K10 2017 ships with an Octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. LG did not revealed SoC manufacturer. Also, it supports external storage card which can be expanded up to whopping 2TB of space to store enormous data in the smartphone. K10, a 5.3-inch HD InCell Touch Display which claims superb viewing experience indoors or out with an basic resolution of 1280×720 with mediocre 277ppi pixel density. However, the smartphone packs a 13MP camera sensor on the back. And a 5MP F2.2 lens camera sensor on the front for snapping 120 wide angle selfies. LG ships it with a removable battery of 2,800mAh, USB 2.0 port. Also has features 112 panic button, fingerprint scanner and OTG support.
Android Nougat 7.0 comes with the LG K10 out of the box.
Since in terms of connectivity options it sports with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. It also have Bluetooth v4.2, NFC and 4G LTE enabled SIM slot.
Hence, Kim Ki Wan, the managing director for LG Electronics India added, “Extending LG’s core philosophy of Life’s Good to the safety realm. Hence, we have devised a new K10 2017 Smartphone with an emergency SoS panic button. This can be pressed to generate an alarm by a vulnerable target in case of an unforeseen situation.”
